Being Thankful

In Evans's class this week, they have been talking about being thankful and learning Bible verses around this theme. Yesterday, she brought home artwork of what she is thankful for. I laughed so hard.

Mom, and food. Ha! Anyone that knows Evans knows she loves her plates full. I've really never had a problem with her being a picky eater. She will pretty much try anything. Right now she's loving banana peppers. She also loves spicy salsa!

Yesterday before work, I had breakfast with my best friend Ash and my cousins Brooke and Ali. Ash is also expecting- we will be welcoming her little girl Emma in November! It's so fun to be pregnant with your best friend. I don't think that we could have planned this! The babies will be 3 months apart.

It was a morning filled with laughter, and also some big news. While at the table, I got a call from my doctor's office that some blood work had come back. I'm always nervous having genetic testing done, as any mom would be. I'm excited to report the results were low risk and normal!

The nurse then reminded me- the blood work also determines fetal gender. She asked could she tell me over the phone, did I want to find out, or should she put the results in a sealed envelope? Y'all, I am so NOT the gender reveal party, waiting for a surprise type person. Like AT ALL. I'm much too impatient for all of that madness. So, of course I responded, "tell me over the phone".

So, I got the results right there at the table with three of my best friends. We all got to share in the excitement together! And then amidst the giggling and laughing I realized, oh I better call my husband! Haha. He didn't answer, so I simply texted him- call me, I've got the blood work results....

A few minutes later...

"Hey, you got the results? What are they?"

"Low risk, normal... And it's a .....well I'll let you guess..." As I trailed off, I could tell he was holding his breath. And could I hear him sweating through the phone?

"It's a girl isn't it?" Nervous laughter on his end. Lots of it.

And there you have it! God has blessed us with a GIRL! So my mommy intuition was right. I AM having a girl! I am so excited for Evans. I dearly love my older brother (to the point I followed him around everywhere when we were kids), but I always wished for a sister.  Seeing the way my mom is with her 4 sisters- they are seriously her closest friends. Soul mates. I'm looking forward to seeing these girls grow up together and become lifelong friends. They will be close in age (26 months) and will likely share a room. I pray for their relationship already. I can't wait!

As far as names, we at least have a first name picked that is a family name. Still kicking around middle names. I love using meaningful family names, but that makes the process harder! Hopefully we will agree on something by February.

And in other news, I haven't had any episodes with my hemorrhage in two full days! That's a miracle. Please keep the prayers coming. I'm so thankful for all of you!
