Powder Room

Our powder room is done! Well, done for this budget anyways. :) We are dealing with the stomach bug/flu/ general nastiness here. Fitting I'd be sharing a bathroom this week?!

Basket hung on the wall using nails, it houses our toilet paper and extra towels (also at a height our oldest toddler can reach to dry her hands!)

My favorite part of this room is this art by my oldest daughter. I LOVE IT! She's so creative. I gave her a canvas and got out all of her art supplies: markers, chalk, crayons, watercolor, colored pencils, dry erase, etc etc. She had a ball creating the different layers and patterns. She says it is her and her daddy swimming in Lake Murray. I just love it!!

I helped her add some gold around the edges using rub and buff (and gloves, don't worry!)

And that's it! Pray our little family gets well soon! Poor Mae Mae is still feeling puny.

ONE

We had a bird in our chimney. Yes. I thought it was a bat and screamed like a girl. Thankfully my  neighbor came to the rescue as my hubby was out of town during the whole fiasco. It wasn't the family of blood sucking bats that I'd envisioned, but a helpless baby bird that had gotten trapped. He was released outside and flew quickly away! Crisis averted.

TWO

I don't think I've blogged about this yet- my website is now LIVE! So exciting. I've been busy this summer doing e-design work for clients here in Savannah and all over the southeast. So much fun!

THREE

Speaking of work, I've got a couple new abstracts finished! It had been a while since I had time to pick up a brush, but this week I was super productive. I just listed these today on my Instagram.

I CANNOT believe tomorrow is October 1. WHAT! How did we get here? It was actually slightly cool this morning in Savannah. I am so excited for cooler temps so that we can enjoy our porch.

And speaking of that dang porch, it is STILL NOT DONE. Y'all, I'm losing it. I'm planning to join in the fun on the ONE ROOM CHALLENGE to get my butt in gear and get it done. It's mainly paint and clean up at this point, but my motivation is absent. HELP!

FRIDAY!

It's the weekend! And my hubby is back from being gone all week long. Yes, girls by myself. All. Week. Long. I do realize lots of mamas and daddies do it solo but doggone that is not easy! Between doctors appointments, VBS, work and regular mommy stuff- I am REALLY glad to have Daddy home. 

I was in get it done mode this week. Finished up a couple projects for clients. Started a commissioned painting. And got around to our kitchen- which has been half painted 3 different colors for almost a year now! HA. Yes, I'm serious. 

My parents are coming in town this weekend! Woo. We are planning a low key pool day tomorrow (well, as low key as it can be with my 2.5 year old wild child). Hubs is planning to FINALLY finish the fence painting out front. WOO. We will no longer be that house with the half-painted fence.  ;)

I found an Etsy shop that does custom door mats, and so I had this one made. Hello, Darlin'! 

Once the fence is done, we will do a little landscaping and thats it. The house has changed a lot in just 11 months!

Year In Review

Hard to believe where this year started out. We had a walking one year old who acted too old for her britches. We were renting a house. I was job searching and interviewing. Unsure of whether I'd land something in the design field or continue to practice law and open up a solo practice. 

A lot happened this year, good, bad, and ugly, but here are my favorites. 

We enjoyed our city and Isle of Hope with many strolls, but too few date nights. 

I made my first oyster mirror, and used lots of chalk paint. The console table, the bench, and the china cabinet were all victims to the paint brush this year. 

I went to Vegas for the first time! Soaking up the rays at Caesar's Palace. 

Finished several new paintings, all of which are now at Cohen's Retreat. 

Started my dream job as an interior designer. 

Then we found out we'd be having another baby... and soon after found out it's another girl! 

We bought our rental house....

And changed the lights....

Meanwhile, Evans continued to grow, and started talking in sentences, and "reading" her books...

I got bigger...

We started a bathroom demolition.....

And boy was it worth it! 

Again, Evans got bigger, and her personality got bigger, too. 

And again, I got bigger...

Then we had the house painted white, replaced the front door, and added coastal shutters. 

We also had a bunch of scary dead trees removed. 

We celebrated Halloween at the pumpkin patch! Evans went on her first hayride. 

We enjoyed the Isle of Hope Art & Music Festival! 

We enjoyed living near Tybee! 

We chose a name for baby girl, Mae Caroline! 

And we celebrated Daddy's birthday (and Mommy's, too). 

We hosted Halloween trick-or-treating at our house...

Evans was an 80's girl. 

Evans got a big girl bed and luckily the transition was a piece of cake! 

Made more progress in the bathroom...

Still working on this room today....

Hung another new light...

Updated the guest room and nursery. 

Celebrated Thanksgiving with this lil' indian girl...

Evans went on her second hayride! 

Hubs and I enjoyed a staycation babymoon in Savannah. 

We decorated the front yard for Christmas. 

Speaking of yard, Hubs and my dad built a new picket fence! It's almost ready for paint.

I did a coastal tree this year...

And I got bigger...

We celebrated another birthday- Evans turned 2! 

After her birthday, the following weekend she was a "star" in her school's Christmas play. 

Evans got her first big girl bike! 

Enjoyed a wonderful Christmas... 

We replaced the old kitchen cabinets and dishwasher... Merry Christmas to the grown ups. 

Overall, 2015 was a great year. Hard to believe 2016 will bring a new family member. 

Can't wait to see what else is in store. Happy New Year!
