New House: New Appliances!

Well, the floors are STILL not ready. Arg. Flooring guy says it will be this weekend (hopefully). They did get the stairs ready for stain, and put down the first coat yesterday. Which means we have to stay off of them all week.

Hardwoods are finished in the master bedroom, kitchen, powder room, almost done in the dining room. He is laying the living room, foyer, and front closet now! Woo! I can see the finish line..... And the tile backsplash in the kitchen was finished. Yay!

We ordered appliances for the house over 4th of July weekend when the sales were really good. We've been putting off and putting off delivery because of the floors, but they were finally delivered yesterday! Amazing what just updated appliances can do for a room.

I ordered some lighting for the house as well.

Hopefully we can move in soon!

Lantern Pendant Lighting

According to my pinning habit lately, I apparently have a small obsession with lantern-esque pendant lights. I've pinned some of these pins several times now.... oops. Can't help but love them though! Especially a big one right over a dining table or kitchen island.

Here are some of my favorites from O.co, Ballard, and Pottery Barn. Some are big and would make a great statement all on their own. Others are smaller and would look really awesome in a duo or trio set up.

Window Shopping HomeGoods

I did a little therapy at HomeGoods this weekend while my hubby was having a manly day of hitting golf balls, hitting Bass Pro Shop, and shooting guns. Yes, this is my life. Window shopping makes me happy. I thought I'd share some of the latest goods from one of my favorite accessory havens.

Alert- when did HomeGoods up the game in the way of fashionable pillows that make me drool? Look at these huge floor pillows. I believe these were $20. No lie.

Gray on gray ikat 20x20 pillow... Love this. It's a screen print, meaning the fabrics aren't woven in the ikat pattern, it's simply printed on, but for the budget conscious, who really cares? Your kids and or dogs are going to mess them up destroy them anyways, right?

You know I stopped on the black and white geometric goodness.

A very Ballard-esque chair, minus the Ballard-esque price. $399.99.

Clocks galore!

This one was really cool and playfully over-sized.

Time out?

I'm not sure how I walked away from this bench. I'm really not. Still as I sit here miles away from HomeGoods, this bench haunts me. $175.

Cool lanterns... think fireplace or front door swoop. Loved these.

I got a picture of this side table for my friend, Flower. It just looks like her style to me. Antique brass base and mirrored top. $30.

Sometimes iPhone just can't do justice. I took several pictures of this lamp and none of them turned out great. This was a silk gray shade on a chalky matte black base. I was dying over the colors. Loved it.

Reading lights

SOMEONE PLEASE go buy this chandelier. PLEASE. I need to see it in a room, NOW. If my dining room were big enough, I would do it. Again, iPhone not doing it justice here whatsoever. It looked like gilded gold. The bottom was an orb. The arms look like a compass or something. LOVE LOVE LOVE. GO NOW and report back. Thanks.

Oh hello misters. I don't have a room big enough for the scale of these, what with 8 ft ceilings and all. I loved them nonetheless. Black on black and huge. DRAMA!

Oh, and can we talk mirrors? How about some Ballard-esque mirrors for you today...

Um, yes. Now.

Wood mixed with iron... what's not to love about this? Oh, and my leg. Not for sale as it were.

Geometric. Yes, all day, yes.

Oh, and a few pictures from Hobby Lobby, too... Clearance mirror marked down to $65. Reminds me of the Ogden Mirror at Ballard, but in a way cooler shape.

And how about these Restoration Hardware knockoffs? Uh huh.

Don't worry, Hubby, I came home empty handed.... this time.

Stair It Up Little Darlin'.. and... BACK in BLACK

O-oh! Little darlin'... one more time... stair it up! Check out the new darling little light that now lives in our stairway! Thanks to my handy hubby for replacing the old worn out 80's browny browns stained glass lovely fixture (that was filled with um... dust.. and... well... we won't go there, just note it was nasty).  I didn't do it justice by taking a picture, so you'll just have to trust me when I say that muddy orange badness of a light had to go (even if it did take us 10 months to replace since the time we moved in).

And cue the angels singing... Aaaahh!

(note to self- paint the wall where the old fixture was.. ehh.. I'll get to that)

I finished painting the hall upstairs and the doors black, too.  So glad I went ahead and did all the doors black.  I think I've now officially painted every square inch of our home.  Ha!  All part of making an old house your own though.  Which is a lot of the fun in moving and what they call "nesting".  Just another excuse for women to decorate right?

And now of course I'm dreaming of some cute little patterned runner for the hallway.  Any of these Pinterest numbers would do...

And guess who else is gonna be back in black?  These boys.

You Light Up My Life

You give me hope (err a pretty foyer), to carry on, you light up my days (with a 60W bulb)! And fill my nights, with song (err bling)........ OK, I'm definitely not the cheesy lovey dovey romantic type- but I felt LeAnn's song was appropriate here.  Check out what the hubs installed for me to show his undying love and commitment for this woman (or maybe just fear and overall dedication to the saying happy wife happy life):

That's right, y'all, no more boob light in the foyer! So excited.  Roses are red and violets are blue and all that stuff, but I cannot resist a man that knows his way around a tool belt.  The light and crystals went up without any hiccups.  Success!  It really dresses up this little space as you walk into the house, and I love the shadows it throws onto the walls and ceiling when it is lit.  Gorgeous, thanks to my hubby!

Ohhh ahhh.  I love it.  But, it wasn't all about me, of course.  I surprised the hubs with a game we played years ago at Barnsley Gardens.  The game is called Skittles.  Highly addictive.  Loads of fun.  We proceeded to play a few rounds, which lasted about an hour.  I guess that means he likes it!

And hubs surprised me right back with two dozen roses.  Awww.  He's been my Valentine for 6 years now.

Yeah, you, liiiiiiiiight up my liiiiiiiiiiiiiife.....
