Hubs and I had our first weekend away from Evans at twenty weeks old! We went up to Fort Mill, SC to visit friends for a birthday party. Low country boil, drinks, and friends. It was so much fun, and so nice to get some time "off" from baby duty. Although I must admit, I missed E terribly! :)
She feels and looks heavier to me, but she really hasn't gained much weight in the last month. I promise I'm still feeding her! She's plateaued on the weight gain here lately, however. Still getting taller, though. Our long string bean.
She will sometimes sit with me and watch clips from Disney movies. Here we were watching Cinderella sing "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes". Maybe she will be as big of a Disney nut as her mom.
She loves her toes these days.
And I love her dimples!
She's still sleeping GREAT. Like I say every week, I hate to put it in writing for fear of jinxing it! She's sleeping 12-14 hours every. single. night. She also takes 3-4 naps a day. That's insanity. I guess she is making up for all the lost sleep in her first 3.5 months!
Only a few things have changed schedule-wise. Last week she DROPPED the dreamfeed! Holy cow. It was sort of by accident that it happened. While Hubs and I were out of town, we left Evans with her D and Papa (my parents). D said she was going to try and not give her a bottle at 10:30 and see how she did (D didn't want to disturb E's sleep!). I gave her the go ahead to do this because in the last 2 weeks, Evans did not seem very interested in eating at that time, and if she did eat I swear it was maybe 1-2 ounces. She seemed like she would rather just be left alone to slumber. So, I let my mom be the guinea pig to see how E did. Well, she did just fine! Slept all the way through til morning. Unreal! So, I haven't given her the 10:30 dreamfeed since then, and it's been easy sailing. She now eats at 8, 11, 2, 4, and 6. I try to give her a pumped bottle at 6:00 of at least 5 ounces to make sure she gets through the night ok. And she has been doing so well with this!
The other schedule-change was also baby led. She pretty much moved up her own bedtime from 7 to 6:30. I started noticing that she will take her 3rd nap and be up around 4-4:30. Sometimes she will take one more very quick cat nap from 5-5:30 (usually no longer than 30 minutes). After she'd eat at 6, she'd start getting SO drowsy. While we were in SC I took that as a cue to move up the bedtime and skip any too-late naps (naps happening after 5:30). Now she gets her last meal at 6, bath at 6:15 ish, and bedtime at 6:30. She sleeps through until 7:30 or 8:30 in the morning. There are even times I have to go in and WAKE HER UP at 8:30. It really is true- the earlier the bedtime, the more they will sleep. Thank you Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child for imparting this wisdom. That book is the baby sleep bible. Period.
She usually wakes up all smiles. Love this face.
Can't believe it's now MAY. Great day. She's almost 5 months old. We've come a long way in those 5 months. She's sleeping better, more alert during wakeful periods, and just stealing our hearts away daily.
Evie Boots, we love you!
