I just had to post today about Carolina and Clemson. This whole Dabo/Spurrier thing is extremely disappointing to me. He said/ they said/ who started what/ it doesn't matter. At all. It makes both universities look ridiculous. I think it's childish and extremely unprofressional. Sure, us fans say things. But we are fans. That is the luxury we have tucked away in the bleachers, we're not on the field or pacing the sidelines. We aren't in the limelight. We aren't talking to press. We aren't representing the schools in that way.
When you take on a responsibility such as coaching, you lose certain freedoms in my opinion. One of those is flying off collar, loose cannon. You simply shouldn't do that. Carolina and Clemson are already known for "The Brawl" that we sent Lou Holtz into retirement with. An all time low for all Tigers and Gamecocks. Do we really need to revisit that type of unwanted publicity? Well, I don't. How about a rivalry with a splash of dignity, and maybe, just maybe, a bit of respect... Respect for both programs (ehem excuse me, 10-2, 9-3), but more importantly, respect for our great state, the state of South Carolina. Maybe that is too much to ask.
All I know for sure is that if you're wearing garnet or orange, the thing on people's minds is this: Dabo v. Spurrier. Both schools look like big babies. And that's a crying shame.
