If It'd Been A Boy

(Speaking of nurseries, a big thank you to Julia at Pawleys Island Posh for the feature today! Go check out her blog if you don't follow her already. You'll find outfit inspirations, recipes, room designs and a lot more from this talented girl and mama of 2!)

I have had a few dreams lately that I went into labor and delivered a BOY. Obviously, it's not that I wouldn't be thrilled with a Hubs, Jr., but we are totally prepared for a girl. I've read stories of false gender predictions and women giving birth to the opposite of what they were told. My 13, 16, 20, and 28 week ultrasounds all revealed PINK, so I think we are safe. It does make me wonder... panic... though, holy cow what if?

So, just for fun, here's what the nursery would have looked like had this baby been a rough and tumble little man. I like kid spaces that don't necessarily scream "A BABY LIVES HERE!" with pieces that can be grown into and used over time. Saving money is a good thing I think :)

Overall, the room would be black & white with mixes of texture and brass here and there. I'd keep the walls Benjamin Moore white dove, and use the same dresser, crib, bench and baskets. The upholstered bench seat would go black. The room layout would not change.

I'd probably still do a gallery wall, but use a mix of frames in black, white and gold like I did in our home office. I love the idea of baseball drawings like the ones from this Etsy shop. Boyish without being too themey (is that a word? Ha).

For glider and ottoman I would use a black and white striped set. The side table would be something with texture like this one from World Market

I'd keep the mirror and sconce arrangement above the dresser, but I'd use something like this porthole mirror and these black sconces. The dresser hardware would go brass like these Anthro pulls

For curtains, I'd make white panels with black ribbon trim and pair it with wood blinds (source on this pic?).

For the crib skirt, I'd do something similar to the curtains. A simple white box pleat with a black ribbon trim. Above the crib, I would get this mobile from Baby Jives. I really love her work! I'd also paint some sort of colorful abstract art to hang above the crib.

Then, I'd ground it all with a graphic black and white rug.

Maybe next go round... Because I'm having a girl. I need to stay off google and quit reading these stories. :)
